SIJHL enters new era in its 20th season with new logo

THUNDER BAY, Ont. — The Superior International Junior Hockey League has unveiled new branding including a brand new logo design in advance of what will be the league’s 20th Anniversary season in 2021-22.

“The historic SIJHL logo has served the league well throughout the design’s inception,” said SIJHL commissioner Darrin Nicholas.

“The board of governors felt that the league has amassed a pretty impressive stable of graphic artists associated with our league and teams, and the feeling was that it was a worthwhile endeavor to invite these individuals to put their creativity to work and submit conceptual ideas for a league rebrand,” Nicholas continued.

The league officers were frankly astounded by the response with many teams submitting multiple concepts for consideration.

Of the process, Nicholas added: “With the breadth of concepts submitted, it really covered the whole spectrum.  What emerged was a consensus on a design we felt would pay homage to our past but also properly represent our league as we head into our third decade.”

The final design, incorporates a clean, modern shield look, bisected by the league acronym “SIJHL” with images representing the Canadian and U.S. flags above and below respectively.

The new logo design has also been incorporated into a design commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the SIJHL which will be featured on team helmets, social media outlets and websites throughout the 21-22 season.
