Hockey PEI statement on passing of Clifford Affleck

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Hockey PEI President Al MacIsaac released the following statement regarding the passing of Junior Council Chair, Clifford Affleck:

“Clifford Affleck spent his life giving back to the game of hockey and serving his Island sports community with enthusiasm.

An experienced Hockey PEI Board Member for two decades, Cliff most prominently looked after the portfolio of Junior Council Chair which oversaw the PEI Junior “C” Hockey League, the Island Junior “B” Hockey League and the PEI arm of the Maritime Junior “A” Hockey League. Prior to that, Cliff was a well-respected Hockey PEI on-ice Official, spending many late nights at the rink, working high-level hockey across the Island. He did all of this with pride and passion.

Cliff shared his knowledge and love of the game every single day and had a particular passion of being helpful and caring of others, especially his fellow board members, his league commissioners, and our members. He connected with countless members within our organization over the years and with that, his infectious personality was felt by many.

Our team sits here today with a void in our hearts, and we know we are not alone. Our thoughts are with Clifford’s wife Velma, and his entire family.

Hockey Prince Edward Island celebrates his life and mourns the passing of a true friend and valued member of our family.”
