A dozen CJHLers selected during 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas

DALLAS – The 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas, Texas came to a close Saturday afternoon with 12 Canadian Junior Hockey League players in all being selected throughout the course of the two-day event.

Following the selection of Jacob Bernard-Docker of the Okotoks Oilers (AJHL) by the Ottawa Senators in the first round, 26th overall, Friday, 11 more CJHLers were drafted Saturday.

Of the dozen taken, six were chosen by Canadian clubs in the NHL.

Ottawa led the way with a trio picks with D Jonathan Tychonick of the Penticton Vees (BCHL) and LW Angus Crookshank of the Langley Rivermen (BCHL) joining Bernard-Docker, the John Grisdale CJHL Top Prospect Award recipient, in being tabbed by the Senators.

In all, five CJHL defencemen were taken by NHL teams as were five forwards and a pair of goaltenders while of the 12 draftees, 10 of them were chosen by NHL Central Scouting to compete in the 2018 CJHL Prospects Game held this past January in Mississauga, Ont.
