Canada West 7, Slovakia 3 – Rath Eastlink Community Centre
· Jack Silverberg (Sherwood Park, AB/Okotoks, AJHL) led Canada West to its first victory with 2 goals and 2 assists.
· Layne Loomer (Lethbridge, AB/Blackfalds, AJHL) and Matthew Van Blaricom (Southey, SK/Humboldt, SJHL) each had a goal and an assist.
· Erick Roest (Lethbridge, AB/Sherwood Park, AJHL) made 24 saves for the victory.
Canada East 5, Sweden 0 – Rath Eastlink Community Centre
· Dylan Edwards (Toronto, ON/Toronto, OJHL) scored twice as Canada East remains perfect in preliminary round play.
· Tao Artichuk (Ajax, ON/Trenton, OJHL) and Ben Pickell (Courtice, ON/Pickering, OJHL) each recorded a goal and an assist.
· Dawson Labre (Les Cèdres, QC/Smiths Falls, CCHL) had a 37 save shutout.

“This one feels good. You could see guys showing some confidence tonight that we haven’t had yet. I thought Erick (Roest) was great in net… We had a pretty hard practice yesterday, tried to change some things up and take the brain out of the game and focus on just playing and it seemed to resonate with the guys. This is a step in the right direction here, it’s good to see the boys smiling and happy in the room, that’s what this tournament is about is making lifelong memories.”

“It was good to get a win. The boys are finally rolling. You could see the team playing with confidence tonight. I thought our energy was high, our legs were going, and we had our feet under us. This win is huge for us as we get ready to play the United States tomorrow.”
Silverberg on how this win affects the team morale.
“We scored on our opportunities. that was the difference tonight. We had some things to clean up coming into this one, but our goalie was calm, cool and collected in the net and that is all you can ask for. Our compete level has to be real high to win a tournament like this and I like where we are at in that regard, we’re playing hard and we’re coming together as a team.”

“We trust him with our life right now. He is playing unbeleiveable and he is winning us games. We know that he’s back there so it allows us to jump into the rush and maybe take some risks that we shouldn’t, but we know that he’s there and he’s standing tall. Its so much fun to play in front of him right now.”

· Jack Silverberg (Sherwood Park, AB/Okotoks, AJHL) a contribué à la première victoire de Canada Ouest en inscrivant deux buts et deux aides.
· Layne Loomer (Lethbridge, AB/Blackfalds, AJHL) et Matthew Van Blaricom (Southey, SK/Humboldt, SJHL) ont chacun inscrit un but et une aide.
· Erick Roest (Lethbridge, AB/Sherwood Park, AJHL) a réalisé 24 arrêts dans la victoire.

« Cette victoire fait du bien. On pouvait voir que les gars avaient gagné en confiance ce soir. Je trouve qu’Erick (Roest) a été solide devant le filet. On a eu un entraînement particulièrement intense hier. On a tenté de changer certains trucs, d’être moins cérébraux et de plutôt s’appliquer à jouer, et on dirait que ça a parlé aux gars. C’est un pas dans la bonne direction. C’est beau de voir les gars sourire dans la chambre, l’ambiance est joyeuse, et c’est ce qu’on vise ici au tournoi, vivre de beaux moments ensemble. »

« C’est bon pour l’équipe d’avoir gagné la partie. Les gars sont enfin sur une lancée. On a pu voir l’équipe jouer avec confiance ce soir. Le niveau d’énergie était très élevé, on a trouvé notre erre d’aller. Cette victoire nous fait un bien énorme tandis qu’on se prépare à affronter les États-Unis demain. »
Silverberg au sujet de l’effet de cette victoire sur le moral de l’équipe
« On a profité de nos chances de marquer… c’est ce qui a fait la différence ce soir. Nous avions quelques aspects à améliorer à l’amorce de ce match, mais notre gardien de but a gardé son calme et son sang-froid devant le filet, on ne peut pas demander mieux. Il faut une grande compétitivité pour gagner un tournoi comme celui-ci, et j’aime ce que je vois à cet égard. On joue avec intensité et on commence à avoir une belle chimie. »

« Nous avons entièrement confiance en lui. Il joue extrêmement bien et nous aide à gagner des matchs. On sait qu’il est là pour nous couvrir, alors on se permet de sauter dans la mêlée et de prendre certains risques. C’est un peu dangereux, mais on sait qu’il est là et qu’il est à la hauteur. C’est très plaisant de jouer devant lui. »
