SIJHL ANNOUNCES RETURN TO PLAY

THUNDER BAY, Ont. The Superior International Junior Hockey League today announces that it’s Board of Governors has unanimously approved a return-to-play plan that will see regular season games resume on Friday, February 4, 2022.

The regular season will not be extended as a result of the Province of Ontario’s 27-day pause on many activities and sports, including hockey. It will conclude asoriginally planned with the final games being played on Saturday March 26th.

The playoff tournament, for the Bill Salonen Cup, is slated to begin on Tuesday, March 29.

Additionally, the SIJHL has rescheduled it’s 2021-22 Showcase, originally from February 8-10, to March 1-3.

The Showcase will remain in Spooner, Wis., home of the Wisconsin Lumberjacks.

The complete SIJHL schedule for the remainder of the regular season will be released in the coming days. The league’s re-opening weekend schedule is as follows:

Fort Frances Lakers @ Wisconsin Lumberjacks 7:05 p.m. (CST) (Spooner Civic Center)
