TORONTO – The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) announced Wednesday that Drumheller Dragons (AJHL) forward Easton Daneault has been named its Top Rookie Award recipient for the 2024-25 season.
Daneault garnered the accolades over fellow Top Rookie finalists Émile Fournier, (F) Edmundston Blizzard (MHL); Mitchell Kathler, (G) Portage Terriers (MJHL); Mason Kim, (F) Mississauga Chargers (OJHL) and Evan Simeoni, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL), following a voting process completed by the CJHL’s nine-member leagues, for their respective efforts during the course of the regular season.
Earlier tabbed the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Rookie of the Year, the now 17-year-old Red Deer, Alta., product recorded 56 points in 54 games, which tied him for first among rookies this season.
The first-year Dragons forward, who just turned 17 on April 23, tied for seventh in AJHL scoring, averaging 1.04 points-per-game, while accumulating 21 goals and 35 assists, including 24 points on the power play.
Twice named AJHL Rookie of the Week, Daneault notched five game-winning goals and earned five AJHL Player of the Game selections.
He is also committed to Merrimack College (Hockey East) on NCAA Division I scholarship.
