TORONTO – An abundance of Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) defencemen are doing their part at both ends of the ice for their respective clubs through nearly the first four months of the 2025-26 campaign.
Looking at the numbers, you’ll find that a total of 69 blueliners have contributed with 20, or higher, points from the back-end among the 116-teams that comprise the CJHL and its nine-member leagues.
Topping that table is Summerside Western Capitals (MHL) rearguard Simon Mullen.
The 20-year-old Truro, N.S., product has piled up 46 points through 30 games on eight goals and 38 assists.
His totals not only lead the way among CJHL defencemen, but his stellar season to date sees Mullen currently pacing the entire Maritime Hockey League in offensive production for the 2026 Centennial Cup-host Western Capitals. He is also riding an impressive 24-game point streak.
Sitting second in CJHL scoring among D-men is Jesse Carrière, who skates for the Braves de Valleyfield (LHJAAAQ). He has etched his name on the game sheet 37 times, on six tallies and 31 helpers.
Tied for third in this category, with 36 points apiece, are Natan Grenier and Matthew Eric of the West Kent Steamers (MHL) and the Rangers de Montréal (LHJAAAQ) respectively.
Rounding out the Top 5 is Mathys Laurent, who is a member of current No. 1 CJHL-ranked Rockland Nationals (CCHL). He has 34 points to his credit in 29 outings.
