The Superior International Junior Hockey League, a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey league, is seeking applicants to fill the position of Commissioner.
The SIJHL is one of 10 leagues in the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
The SIJHL currently has seven member clubs; five in the Canada and two in the U.S.
POSITION: Full-time, 12 months, position starting July 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Term: Negotiable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily and yearly duties would be as follows but not limited to.
Knowledge of Hockey Canada/USA Hockey and Hockey Northwestern Ontario and its inner workings as well as developing a strong relationship with all three parties leaders.
Strong Organizational skills
Ability to analyze business documents such as policies, procedures and rules.
Must be able to meet deadlines, organize and chair periodic meetings and league AGM
Must act as league secretary at all meetings and provide minutes within a timely fashion
Ability to communicate effectively with players, coaches, BOG’s, board members, sponsors, media and all parties directly or indirectly related to SIJHL business at hand.
Must have management skills and the ability to multi-task —Must have conflict management skills —
Excellent written and communicative skills
Responsible for league operations, directing, developing and implementing policies as approved by the BOG’s for benefit of the league and without bias.
Oversee scheduling
Creating a working agreement with US and Canadian referee in chief in building a disciplinary committee
Must work hard to ensure the future of the SIJHL, specifically expansion, social media, league awareness, recruitment and promotions
Work effectively with sponsors, long term contracts and incentive laden corporate sponsorship deals.
Must be a strong advocate of the league at all Hockey Canada, CJHL and USA Hockey meetings and events.
Compensation: A competitive package plus sales incentives and bonus package possible.
