CCHL announces Ian MacInnis as new commissioner

OTTAWA, Ont. – The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) announced today that Jesse Winchester has informed the Board of Governors of his decision to step down as Commissioner.

Winchester was named Commissioner in September 2025 and helped guide the CCHL through a significant period of change over the past year, working closely with the league’s Board of Governors, member clubs, Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada.

The CCHL Board of Governors has voted to appoint longtime junior hockey executive Ian MacInnis to lead the league moving forward.

MacInnis brings extensive experience in junior hockey and a strong familiarity with the CCHL, its member clubs and the junior hockey landscape. He will assume his responsibilities immediately as the league begins the 2026-27 season.

“On behalf of the Board of Governors, we would like to thank Jesse for his leadership and commitment to the CCHL during an important year for our league,” said Sue Collis. “Jesse approached the position with professionalism, integrity and a genuine commitment to our players and member clubs. We are grateful for his contributions and wish Jesse and his family the best moving forward.”

“The Board has tremendous confidence in Ian and his ability to lead the CCHL. His experience, relationships and understanding of junior hockey will provide the league with strong leadership and continuity moving forward.”

Winchester thanked the Board, member clubs and the CCHL community for the opportunity to serve as Commissioner.

“I’m extremely grateful to the Board of Governors for the opportunity to serve as Commissioner of the CCHL and to the many people across the league who I had the opportunity to work alongside over the past year,” said Winchester. “Junior hockey is built on people who care deeply about the game, their players, their teams and their communities, and I have tremendous respect for the time and energy they devote to the sport.”
