CCHL accepting applications for commissioner

The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) is seeking applicants to fill the position of League Commissioner.

Centrally located in Eastern Ontario in the Ottawa Region, the CCHL is a premiere hockey destination. The CCHL is comprised of twelve teams providing competitive programming and
developmental hockey opportunities to players from across North America.

POSITION:

Full-time, beginning as soon as possible.  A detailed job description will be provided to all candidates selected for an interview.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Commissioner is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the League. Reporting to the League Chair and Board of Governors, the Commissioner’s responsibilities include:
– Oversee the operations of the League and manage the League’s human resources;
– Lead, administer and coordinate the administrative operational requirements and activities of the League;
– Foster and support positive communication and relations within the Board of Governors;
– Maintain effective leadership and positive engagement with member teams of the League;
– Act as the League’s representative to the Canadian Junior Hockey League, HEO, and Hockey Canada;
– Build constructive relationships with external governing bodies, partner organizations, and corporate partners;
– Supervise League operations and manage all aspects of human resources; and
– Coordinate and lead the League’s day-to-day operations and administrative functions

The candidate shall possess the following:

– Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information and ideas clearly and professionally;
– Demonstrated leadership, motivation, and organizational abilities to thrive in a challenging environment and manage competing priorities;
– Excellent interpersonal skills, with a talent for engaging with volunteers, members, sponsors, businesses, media, board members, staff, and the general public;
– Capable of working independently on complex tasks and projects while meeting deadlines; and
– Skilled in analyzing policies, procedures, regulations, and proposals to ensure effective communication and implementation of the same.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate shall possess the following:

– Post-secondary education in business, sports administration, or equivalent experience in a related field;
– Leadership experience within the sport of hockey or a comparable environment;
– Proficiency in computer applications and software;
– Ability to meet HEO’s Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) requirements;
– Understanding of the League’s structure and operations is an asset;
– Experience in hockey management is considered an asset;
– Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal); fluency in French is an asset.
