TORONTO – While Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) alumni continued to perform on the ice through various leagues at higher levels, a solid number of former CJHLers are also making their mark behind the bench.
Looking at the names of those from the NHL; AHL; ECHL; SPHL; USPORTS and the CHL during the 2025-26 campaign, 85 alumnus, who either played, or coached in the CJHL, served as head coaches for their respective clubs.
This included 12 individuals that guided National Hockey League clubs at various points of the season.
Leading that NHL contingent was Rod Brind’Amour (Notre Dame Hounds/SJHL) who led the Carolina Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup title.
There were also 16 alums who coached ECHL clubs, while 21 more led USPORTS sides and 37 did likewise in the Canadian Hockey League.
