Terrebonne to Host 2011 Fred Page Cup
Monday, March 21, 2011
The City of Terrebonne and its Junior AAA Hockey Club, the Cobras, will host the 2011 Fred Page Cup championship, which will take place at Cité du Sport from April 20th through April 24th. This championship will determine the Canadian Eastern Junior A champions. This prestigious tournament is held in the province of Quebec every three years and is making his fifth presentation in the history of this event after the towns of Coaticook, Joliette, Valleyfield and Saint-Jérôme.
Established in 1995, the Fred Page Cup tournament involves the Bogart Cup champions of the Central Junior A Hockey League (CJHL); the Kent Cup champions of the Maritimes Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL); the Napa Cup champions and the host team of the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League (QJAAAHL). The 2001 Fred Page Cup champions will then head to Camrose, Alberta to take part in the RBC Cup (April 30th-May 8th) to determine the Canadian Junior A champions.
The organizing committee of the 2011 Fred Page Cup edition is under the presidency of Mr. Mario Fabbri, President of the Terrebonne Cobras who will be assisted by a team led by Mr. Marc Campagna.
To date, in the history of this championship, the QJAAAHL won the Fred Page Cup in four occasions including the first ever presentation in 1995 with the National de Joliette. The Saint-Jérôme Panthères (2001), the Lennoxville Cougars (2003) and L'Action de Joliette (2006), are the other recipients of the Fred Page Cup.
The organizing committee has accomplished tremendous work to make sure all the participants will be hosted by the city of Terrebonne and its hockey fans in a way no other town can match up to.
The QJAAAHL invite all the hockey fans to support our young players during the course of the tournament. Highly exciting hockey games can be expected as the best Junior A teams of Eastern Canada will be at work.
