Brockville Braves Streak Hits 26

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

The Brockville Braves' record-setting win streak has come to an end at 26 games.

A single shootout goal proved to be the difference on Sunday night as the Pembroke Lumber Kings edged the Braves 6-5 before an announced crowd of 1,842 at the Pembroke Memorial Centre.

Brockville forced overtime by scoring with just two seconds left in the third period. The victory by the Lumber Kings snapped an amazing run by the Braves in which they rewrote the CJHL record books by skating off the ice as winners in 26 straight games.

The Braves hadn't lost since an overtime defeat on October 27th, 2009 versus the Carleton Place Canadians. The previous record was held by the 1978-79 Nepean Raiders and the 1972-73 Pembroke Lumber Kings.
