Anavet Cup History
The Anavet Cup is a championship trophy, won through a best-of-7 series, played between the Turnbull Cup Champions of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and the Canalta Cup Champions of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The winner of the Anavet Cup moves on to compete for the Royal Bank Cup, the Junior "A" National Championship.
The term "Anavet" come from the Canadian non-for-profit organization Anavets, or Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada. The Anavet Cup Champion had traditionally played against the Doyle Cup Champion for the Western Canadian Championship, the Abbott Cup. However, with the reorganization of representative "Regions" to play for the Royal Bank Cup in 1990, the Abbott Cup was retired in 1999
